Mineral consolidant based on modified ethyl silicate. For the consolidation of degraded mineral bases, where the maximum possible penetration is required. Generally for use in facade and heritage restorations, on its own or as a complement to Multilite or Multilitio.
PROPERTIES: Etylite is a concentrated mineral consolidant, it is applied without any dissolution, it is based on tetraethyl silicate, for use in mineral bases and construction materials, especially outdoors, formulated for exclusive use in mineral bases and mortars since Etylite becomes part of the mineral materials on which it is applied, thanks to its multiple silicification chemical process. Etylite reacts with the mineral base, becoming part of the same body. Due to its low surface tension and low molecular weight, it penetrates deeply through the pores of the material, forming a glassy silica (SiO2) binding gel. The alcohols present in the Etylite molecules evaporate, leaving only the mineral part of its molecule. The glass-like silica gel binder (SiO2.aq.) is formed by the reaction between ethyl silicate and water from atmospheric moisture or capillary pores. Under normal conditions (20°C / 50% RH), the final hardness is reached after two weeks, i.e. when most of the ethyl silicate has been converted into silica gel.
MAIN USE: As a mineral consolidant, mainly for degraded mineral bases where a very penetrating consolidation is required, in restorations, heritage, rehabilitations... After its application and curing the pores of the treated bases are not sealed, so the treated building material maintains its permeability to water vapor.
WAY OF APPLICATION: Protect well all surfaces that should not be treated or splashed. Apply with brush, roller or sprayer. Do not dilute with water or solvents. It is recommended to apply until saturation wet on wet. If a second application is required, it can be done after 3-4 weeks, because if it is applied before the formation of active substance is completed, the masonry could not absorb more consolidant, once the material is applied, it will be protected during the following two or three days with a plastic film, as long as there is a risk of rain. For further details see technical data sheet and/or application guides, and safety data sheet.
AVERAGE CONSUMPTION: Its consumption can range from 0.33 to 1 l. in low porous bases and low thickness as minimum and from 1 to 15 l./m² in extreme cases of high absorption, high thickness and high degradation.
